NAHBS builders choosing MS2(TM) by KVA Stainless
San Diego, Calif.–Following a successful debut in 2011, in which MS2-built bicycles won three awards, KVA Stainless’s MS2(TM) tubing will appear in abundance at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show, 2-4 March, in Sacramento, California, with several builders choosing to use the lightweight, attractive steel in a variety of different frame types.
Joe McCrink, KVA’s CEO, said, “We would like all cyclists to have the opportunity to enjoy the ‘feel of steel’, and with MS2 we have a very affordable stainless steel tube set that allows many people to experience the great mechanical and aesthetic properties of this material.”
In addition to appearing in at least eight booths at the show, at 3 p.m. Saturday 3 March, KVA Stainless staff will lead a seminar about forming and fabricating MS2 and the new MS2 Exogrid(TM) tubing.
Also worth looking out for at NAHBS are the prototype MS2 stainless steel fork blades, which steadily approach production-readiness as continued development yields positive results.
On the environmental side, sometimes there is talk on the cycling forums about the industrial pollution created by the process of making a bicycle frame. KVA’s contribution to industrial sustainability is to use recycled stainless steel.
Visitors to the KVA booth at NAHBS are encouraged to write their comments on the KVA Stainless Facebook page, with the writer of the most pithy comment each day being offered a 25% discount on a full KVA tube set.
Of course the KVA Stainless booth (#319) will feature the full range of tubing and The list of builders using MS2 tubing at NAHBS includes:
- Alchemy Bicycles (#304), two bicycles
- Anderson Custom Bicycles (#603), two bicycles
- Ellis Cycles (#705), one bicycle
- Risse racing (#205), one bicycle
- SyCip Designs (#919), two bicycles
- True Fabrication Bicycles (#502), one bicycle
- Winter Cycles (#631), one bicycle
More detail about the KVA Stainless process
KVA Stainless’ MS2 tubing uses a patented welding and thermal processing technology that turns rolls of stainless steel into bicycle tubing for road and mountain bikes.
Already proven and tested by KVA Stainless in other industries, notably automotive, the patented KVA STAINLESS martensitic stainless structural tubing can now be integrated into high performance bicycle frames to reduce weight and increase strength, at a significant cost savings over many existing metal alloys.
MS2 tubing is made in the United States from first quality, domestic stainless steel alloys, using the most modern forming, welding and precision thermal processing technology available to produce custom-made butted bicycle tubing.
